Other Graduate Student Organizations

Graduate Employee’s Organization (GEO): With an active presence in the community, the GEO works for high-quality and accessible public education in Illinois. Furthermore, the GEO is the official venue through which TAs and GAs can negotiate with the University Administration over their healthcare, wages, and other working conditions. Since unionizing, UIUC graduate employees, through the GEO, have pushed for and won better stipends, improvements in health insurance, and other benefits.

Grainger Engineering Graduate Student Advisory Committee (EGSAC): EGSAC is a student advisory committee and leadership opportunity for graduate students in the College of Engineering at Illinois. EGSAC aims to foster active engagement to enhance the educational experience and promote the well-being of current and future graduate students across multiple engineering disciplines in the college.

Structural Engineering Graduate Student Organization (SEGSO): SEGSO is a graduate student organization for structural engineering students. SEGSO puts on socials, seminars, and programs for structural engineering graduate students.

Geotechnical Engineering Student Organization (GESO): GESO is a graduate student organization for geotechnical engineering students. GESO hosts social events to build community and offers students for research discussions and leadership development through seminars and conferences.

Graduate Society of Women Engineers (GradSWE): GradSWE is a support community and advocate for graduate women in engineering and for undergraduate women interested in pursuing graduate studies in engineering. We encourage women to pursue graduate school, support them throughout their graduate education, and help prepare them for their future careers after they complete their degree. GradSWE provides events that cater to the needs of graduate students and undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate school.

Women Empowered in STEM (weSTEM): weSTEM (Women Empowered in STEM) is a one-day conference designed to inspire and connect current and aspiring STEM leaders. Invited speakers will share experience and insight from their diverse career paths following a graduate degree in STEM. The conference features lectures, workshops, and breakout sessions that showcase successful career paths of women, gender minorities, and men in STEM, and facilitate the discussion of topics unique to the graduate student experience.

Students Advising on Graduate Eduacation (SAGE): SAGE is a student advisory board and leadership opportunity for graduate students at Illinois that fosters active engagement with Graduate College programs and initiatives. This board contributes to the graduate student community at Illinois by providing varied perspectives that enhance the academic, professional, and social experience of graduate students at the university. They also provide valuable input for Graduate College programs, resources, and services.
